THREE SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN POSSESSION OF A STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE

TZANEEN | The Police in Tzaneen have arrested three male suspects aged between 25 and 35 in possession of two unlicensed firearms with ammunition and a suspected stolen motor vehicle on Thursday.

The Police have acted swiftly responding to the information received about a suspicious motor vehicle at a Shopping Center in Tzaneen.

Upon arrival, the police noticed a white Volkswagen Tiguan motor vehicle with registration numbers of both Gauteng and Limpopo province with three male occupants.

“The said vehicle was tactically approached and searched. Police found two firearms, 27 live ammunition and 2 magazines hidden inside the vehicle. The three suspects were arrested and further investigations revealed that the car was reported stolen at Roodepoort in Gauteng province”, said Colonel Malesela Ledwaba of Limpopo Police.

Moreover, the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the members for removing illegal firearms from wrong hands.

“These firearms might have been been used to harm innocent lives” said General Hadebe.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Monday 22 May 2023 facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms with ammunition and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.
