Sekgosese Talent Show 2020 grand winner, Koketso Octovia Lebea from Lemondokop village in Sekgosese is not in a hurry to record her debut single anytime soon as she still needs to explore her musical capabilities.

However, the 16-year-old has written a number of songs already but feels like is too early to release them to the world.

“I still need to acquire a bit more knowledge and growth in music, so that I know where my capabilities are and what suits me best. With that said, I do have songs written, a lot of them in fact, but I feel that I’m not ready to release them for the world to hear yet”, she said.

Moreover, she will in the meantime direct all her energy on educational activities as she will be doing grade 12 this year at Capricorn high school in Polokwane.

“For now, the plan is to focus on completing my high school studies so I’ll probably enter Idols SA in a few years to come”, said Lebea who was born in a musical family.

“So I grew up in a very musical environment, therefore at the age of three I had already started singing at church along with Sunday school (…) I guess it’s safe to say my talent was discovered and nurtured by my family during my toddler years”, she added.

Her musical inspiration comes from Hle Ntombela, a former member of the Joyous Celebration. Lebea told Sekgosese Insider that everything about Ntombela inspires her more especially her musical feel, lyrics and song delivery.

Lebea further acknowledged that winning Sekgosese Talent Show 2020 is a confidence booster to her.

“I feel overwhelmed, I feel blessed. In fact, words can’t describe how I feel about winning the competition. Considering the fact that I didn’t have confidence in myself on the day of the competition and the fact that my voice was exhausted. This win gives me so much confidence and is a proof that God does not forsake His own”, she told Sekgosese Insider.

She has a YouTube channel, Octovia’s Diary where she regularly uploads covers and her content.
