MANHUNT ORDERED FOR SUSPECT(S ) WHO BRUTALLY KILLED ELDERLY WOMAN

BOLOBEDU – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered a manhunt for the suspect(s) who brutally murdered an elderly woman aged 85, whose body was found in her house at Kuranta village in Bolobedu on Tuesday morning, the 17th of May 2022.

It is reported that when the Police arrived on the scene they found the deceased with multiple serious injuries inside the house. It appeared the assailant(s) used sharp object to kill the victim.

Emergency services were called and the elderly woman was certified dead on scene. She was identified as Maidi Puledi Malefofane aged 85.

“I strongly condemn this horrendous incident in which the most vulnerable member of our society has become the latest target of the heartless criminals,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

The District Commissioner, Major General Willie Mashava has been directed to lead the team that has already started hunting down the killer(s).

“I call on community members to assist the Police by providing valuable information that can lead to the arrest of these/this criminal(s)”, concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.

On the other hand, the Limpopo MEC for Social Development, Nkakareng Rakgoale also condemned the brutal murder of the 85-year-old, Maidi Malefofane.

“It is very disturbing to see an elderly woman violated in this manner. It can not be that we have people in society who do not respect the rights of elderly citizens of our province”, said MEC Rakgoale.

She further called on anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrator of this gruesome act to contact the police.

“Social workers have been dispatched to the area for them to start with the provision of psychosocial support to the family and other affected parties. This GBV incident, once again puts in the spotlight the safety of our vulnerable groups of society”, added MEC Rakgoale.
