The Mamaila Kolobetona Traditional Council has on Friday hosted Matric Excellence Awards ceremony at Nahakwe Lodge whereby top performing learners, educators, principals and schools for the academic year 2023 were recognized.

The ceremony catered for schools under the jurisdiction of Mamaila Kolobetona Tradiotonal Council; Mphuma, Mathibadifate, Khudugane, Makala, Nahakwe, Selamola, Maruatona and Sekgosese secondary school.

Rivetingly, the organizers plan to make this ceremony an annual event.

“It is important for the traditional council to play a role in the advancement of education in our communities. Therefore, we plan to make this ceremony an annual event”, said a member of Mamaila Kolobetona Traditional Council, Phetole Ramosibudi.

He further mentioned that they are going to build a productive relationship with the schools so that better results can be achieved at the end of every academic year.

Here is the list of winners:

TOP 3 PERFORMING SCHOOLS

  1. Nahakwe Secondary School – 90%
  2. Makala  Secondary School – 85.7%
  3. Sekgosese Secondary School – 79.5%

TOP THREE PERFOMING PRINCIPALS

  1. Mosipi M.M (Nahakwe sec)
  2. Seakakgole M (Makala sec)
  3. Moshoma M.T (Sekgosese sec)

TOP THREE PERFOMING LEANERS

  1. Mashau Kgodiso (Sekgosese sec) – 82.6%
  2. Rallele Moloko (Makala sec) – 80.1%
  3. Ramoroalo Comfort (Khudugane sec) – 79.7%

OVERALL TOP PERFORMING LEARNER

  1. Mashau Kgodiso (Sekgosese sec) – 82.6%

Apart from receiving certificate, medal and trophy, the overall performing learner pocketed R4 000.00 from Mamaila Kolobetona Traditional Council while the 1st and 2nd runner ups pocked R3 000.00 and R2 000.00.

  • Ramoroalo Comfort (Khudugane sec) – 79.7%

  • Makhumisane Mpho Victoria (Mphuma sec) – 75.1%
  • Rabopape Tiyiselani (Nahakwe sec) – 72.7%
  • Leshaban Clementine (Mathibadifate sec) – 68.0%
  • Sethibela Tshegofatso (Selamola sec) – 64.0%

Each learner except for the first three on the list received R1 000.00 from Mamaila Kolobetona Traditional Council.

THREE MOST IMPROVED SCHOOLS

  1. Selamola sec school – 76.1% improved by 45.6%
  2. Maruatona sec school – 76.9% improved by 26.1%

BEST PERFORMING EDUCATORS PER SUBJECT EXCLUDING LANGUAGES AND LO

  • Mathematics – Maa’m Ramoba from Nahakwe sec with 71.4%
  • Mathematical Literacy – Mashapa D.P from Makala sec with 95.0%
  • Physical Sciences – Mafiri N.S from Nahakwe sec with 100%
  • Life Sciences – Mokgola T.R from Nahakwe sec with 78.6%
  • Geography – Raseokgo L.A from Makala sec with 97.5%
  • History – Mabina N.J from Makala sec with 100%
  • Accounting – Masia L.C from Makala with 91.6%
  • Business Studies – Mashau A.M from Makala with 100%
  • Economics – Maphote L from Sekgosese sec with 75%
  • Agricultural Sciences – Maa’m Matongoane from Sekgosese sec with 93.9%

Interestingly, the local traditional leaders such as Kgosikgadi Sekgopo, Raphahlelo and representative from Phooko Traditional Council were present to support the initiative by Mamaila Kolobetona Tradional Council.
