SEKGOSESE – Nathaniel Maisha who calls himself a community builder says he is ready to serve the residence of Itieleng and neighbouring villages as the Ward Councillor from next year.

His interests is fuelled by the current community work he is doing which is Kwa-Maisha Free Shopping whereby they go around donating clothes to needy community members.

“The reason for me to have interest in serving as a Ward Councillor [is that] I can do that job better than anyone in Sekgosese. Though I’m already doing more than what counsellors are doing. Our community comes first. Let the community give me that opportunity to serve them, their lives will change for better”, Nathaniel Maisha told Sekgosese Insider.

He further mentioned that he has observed previous councillors and current once however their vision and his are not the same.

“I am well aware of the speculations that COPE wants me [to stand] as Ward Counsellor [candidate in the next coming local government election]. It is not COPE only, even some community members, strangers and total strangers approached me to stand as an independent candidate. I respect the confidence people have in me, but this time around I’m going with my party COPE because their mission is the same as mine”, he revealed.

Maisha further emphasized why he thinks he is the right candidate to serve as a Ward Councillor.

“Remember I have Security Company that gives community members bursaries to improve their family lifestyles, I help people in finding jobs, project that gives community members clothes for free called Kwa Maisha & Friends Shopping for free”, he said.

Sekgosese Insider contacted a political analyst, Sipho Mokgola to get his view about people who voluntarily avail themselves as Ward Councillor candidates.

“If that particular person raises his hand that he is available it is likely to be difficult for him to make it at the polls unless if there is reliable evidence that convinced him that community is aggrieved by the current Councillor and her political party. In a nutshell, that would depend on how is the general mood amongst the people in that village about the current political status quo. If people are aggrieved then he can use that as an advantage and also his reputation will be the main determinant in this regard” said Mokgola.
