ANCYL RAPHO branch is considering taking disciplinary actions against Israel Selamolela who pronounced himself as their chairperson during an interview with Sekgosese Insider this week.

According to the media statement issued by ANCYL RAPHO branch today, Israel Selamolela is the deputy chairperson. He is accused of having acted outside the mandate of the party when he and his fellow youth decided to take matters of service delivery into their hands by disconnecting a leaking tank which was reported to the local office of Water Affairs who did nothing about it.

The leaking tank is one of the four tanks that supply water to the residents of Mahembeni section. Therefore, Selamolela and his fellow youth’s concern was, the leaking tank was wasting so much water and affecting the supply of water.

“We decided to disconnect the leaking tank because it was wasting water and as a result of that our people were no longer getting water as they used to. Therefore the solution was to disconnect it since it was reported to Ward Councillor and Water Affairs”, said Selamolela early this week acting as the chairperson of the ANCYL RAPHO branch.

However, Kabelo Madula who introduced himself as the Chairperson of ANCYL RAPHO branch called Sekgosese Insider to distance the party from the actions taken by Selamolela. He emphasized to Sekgosese Insider that Selamolela was not delegated to act as such and to speak to the media.

“The ANCYL draws inspiration from the tireless efforts which our sense humoured Ward Councillor (PHETEDI WALTER SELEMA) go through to make sure that service delivery remains at the center of our community at all given material time. We fully support him as a deployed cadre of the ANC from the ANCYL rank”, reads the media statement sent to Sekgosese Insider.

It was further stated that the ANCYL RAPHO branch held its last elective BGM on the 29th of October 2018 until date there are no changes of leadership positions.

“ANCYL still recognizes Cde Madula Kabelo DK as the elected and legitimate chairperson of the branch. It is in our understanding that anybody who wishes to assume any position of leadership within the branch must wait for the next congress to be elected”, further reads the statement.

Moreover, it was revealed that the ANCYL remains one amongst many organizations to observe discipline as compelled by its guideline book, the constitution.

“The ANCYL is going to convene this Saturday the 19th of September 2020 to resolve on the misguided piece of video which went viral of “Cde Isreal Selamolela” who happens to be the Deputy Chairperson of the branch rather than the Chairperson”, reveals the statement.

However, Selamolela told Sekgosese Insider that he is not aware of any disciplinary actions to be taken against him.

“I never received any message relating to discipline. This people are out of order. What surprises me is that when asking the secretary about the disciplinary he said he knows nothing”, said Selamolela.

He further said he is now confused because water issues and politics are not related.
