The Conty Lebepe Foundation alleges that the owner of the company that installs tombstones locally is responsible for the recent stealing of tombstones during the night at the local cemeteries more especially at Ga-Mamaila village in Sekgosese.

This follows a registered case at Sekgosese Police Station by Mankgeru family in connection to a stolen tombstone at Ga-Mamaila village. This was confirmed by Michael Mankgeru.

However, no one has been arrested since the case was opened. Therefore, Mankgeru told Sekgosese Insider that there is no progress so far since the investigating officer designated to probe in to their case was arrested allegedly for selling a different case docket.

Batho ba hwile matswalo, especially knowing how difficult it is for a family to erect a tombstone. Some take their last hard earned money to buy a tombstone, then you just go there after 3 days of installation and steal it“, said Lebepe.

Moreover, Lebepe revealed that they have so far gathered information from different complaints and at this stage they know where the alleged suspect renews the stolen tombstones.

β€œIt is just a matter of time before we catch him and as The Conty Lebepe Foundation we are calling on to the residents to remain vigilant and report anything to us against the thieves of tombstones via email at info@conlef.org.za,” Lebepe concluded.
