ADVOCATE MALATJI GIVES BACK TO HER FORMER SCHOOL

ITIELENG | Advocate Maria Maropeng Malatji alongside her colleagues from the South African Women Lawyers Association donated school shoes, sanitary pads and sanitizers to Masehlone primary school learners in Itieleng village Sekgosese on Friday.

Malatji is a former learner at Masehlone primary school.

“I am originally from Ga-Phooko village and we moved to Itieleng village before I started school. I started school under a tree in 1978 at Masehlone primary school in Itieleng village. We moved to Lebowakgomo when I was doing standard 3”, Advocate Malatji told Sekgosese Insider.

She further told Di Reng Tša Masa that as the South African Women Lawyers Association have monthly events. Therefore this month they have decided to visit her former school.

“We have donated 38 schools shoes, 42 sanitary pads and 500 sanitizers to Masehlone primary school learners. The whole idea was to encourage the learners to dream big”, she said.

The South African Women Lawyer Association (SAWLA) is a voluntary, non-profit and non-political organization of women lawyers which was established in 2006 by the then Minister of Justice, Ms Brigitte Mabandla in consultation with a group of women legal minds.

Moreover, SAWLA is a networking forum for women in legal careers and aims to promote access to justice, advocacy for advancement of women, professional and leadership development and contribute to national and international dialogue.
