A CASE OF INQUEST OPENED AFTER TWO TEENAGERS DROWNED

SEKGOSESE – The Police in Sekgosese are investigating a case of inquest after two boys aged 15 and 16 reportedly drowned yesterday.

The deceased were allegedly swimming in Letaba River near Lemondokop village before they were swept away by water and disappeared.

“The police were notified and a joint search operation was activated composed of the Saps Water Wing and other role players since yesterday until this afternoon, on the 18 February 2021 at about 12:30 when the two lifeless bodies were successfully retrieved”, said the Spokesperson for Limpopo Police, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

He further revealed that the deceased were identified by their family members at the scene as Thabang Mohale aged 16 and Maropeng Maphoto aged 15. The cause of death is still to be determined by post-mortem examination.

“Members of the community are still cautioned to be extra careful and vigilant whenever they cross the flooded rivers and dams and parents are also warned to take full care of their children to prevent this type of incidents to occur”, he added.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
